Having prior fishing experience is never a prerequisite to fishing with us. We are always happy to help people new to fishing have a fantastic time on the water.

When I first visited Alaska 10 years ago, I chose not to hire a guide to fish a river on the Kenai peninsula. Oh, man, was that a mistake my wife will never let go of! We spent 8 hours fishing for sockeye salmon for a whopping 0 fish.
Ten years later, we have perfected the techniques needed to catch hundreds of salmon each year & we are ready to help you catch your limit!

What to expect when you fish with us!

We only use high-quality equipment at Katmai Fishing guides. We use brands such as Lamiglass, Sage, & Reddington. Using high-quality equipment ensures that our guests have the right tools to land these incredible fish.
We also provide waders to all our guests. Sizing is limited while we try to have sizes for everyone if you have unique size requirements you may need to bring your own waders.

We fish for all 5 species of pacific salmon, Trout, arctic char, & arctic grayling. All of the fish pose unique challenges, which provide an exciting experience for all of our guests.

When to visit is totally up to you and your goals! If you are coming to Katmai to see bears you likely are coming in July or August. Those two months provide excellent Salmon fishing for Sockeye Salmon (July) & Silver Salmon (August). Check out more about the other fish here
